I've got another testimony to how awesome God really is.
We've had problems with our air conditioner over about 2 years. We've owned the house 3 years. We've spent about $800 on AC repair men who've come out to "fix" our problem in the past 2 years. No one has been able to tell us what the problem is or why it's happening.
Basically, what's happened is we will have the AC set on 77 all week, and then one day I'll notice it's feeling hot in the house. The thermostat will read 83... Yep, it will be like 82-83 in the house, but the AC is still running, pushing out warm air instead of cold air.
The last guy who came out, we had him out probably 4 or 5 times because of this. He'd spend a few hours and still not know what was causing it, but was somehow able to get the AC going cold again. We even had a guy come pull the coils out and clean them. That was about $400.
So, the day before yesterday, I'm sitting there watching Teen Mom 2 and I notice it's feeling warm in the house. I go check the thermostat, and yep, it's 82 in here. I was feeling so frustrated, even kind of angry, because we've spent so much money and no one has fixed this problem. I was a little worried too, because I was thinking the whole unit probably just needed to be replaced in order to correct this, which would cost thousands. And I don't have thousands right now.
Danny called Del-Air (a good, reputable company) and we had an appointment scheduled yesterday for 1:30 in the afternoon. Well, I woke up yesterday and I started to pray. I asked God to please actually send us someone, like ordained- for Him to hand-pick whoever came, and that the person who came would have wisdom to know what has been causing this for so long.
I took some time to just pray and lay it in God's hands. God knew that I didn't have the money to fork out big benji's on a new AC at this time, and I just had to stop worrying (because Jesus tells us not to in John) and just trust God. I decided to do that.
The guy showed up at 1:30. He was an older guy; his name was David & he was in his 50's. I explained the problem that had been going on forever, and he stepped outside to take a look at the unit. I opened the garage and walked around the side of the house to tell him he could come back in the house through the garage if he wanted to, and he said to me, "I've already found the problem..."
I walked over, a little surprised and unsure if I really believed him, or maybe now I was scared that he found "A" problem but that there would be more! :-/
He showed me the Capacitor and said, "See how the top of this cylinder is kinda bubbled up at the top? It's suppose to be flat, like a soup can. That's why there's no cold air in the house. It's trying to start, I can hear it, but it must have just breathed it's last."
He told me he'd go get a price on it while I called Danny to tell him the news. The capacitor was $97. He replaced it and soon we had cold air, once again, running through the house. He took another hour and checked everything else out, as well as tuned the AC.
When he came back in, he told me what everyone else had also shared who had come to try to work on it- that the AC unit was in great condition and he didn't find anything else wrong, just that capacitor that was replaced. I wrote him a check for $177 (the capacitor & the visit fee) and I told him that I was so thankful that he found the problem because no one else had been able to figure it out. I told him that I had prayed all morning that whoever came would have wisdom to know what the problem was. He looked up at me and he said, "Well, I'm a praying man myself, and I know that prayers can be answered."
I got a smile on my face and I said, "I'm a believer...I prayed and just put it in God's hands because I was so afraid that we would get a report that we could afford to fix." Then he told me that he is also a believer and that God always provides and takes care of His children. I noticed he had a thick gold ring on, and it had a cross in the center of it. He said, "I tell you, I have everything I could need or want. What would I want to be rich for anyway? I guess I would just give it all away or build a church with it!"
When he left, I just laughed! God is so awesome like that! He sent a guy to my house, a fellow believer in Christ and in His word, and gave the guy the wisdom and knowledge to see the problem within MINUTES of looking at it! And we've paid 3 different people on about 10 occassions who couldn't tell us the problem. God has a sense of humor and he's compassionate and caring. I just wanted to post this because God's done alot of miraculous things in my life where I've seen His hand at work and it's encouraging.
Thank you, Lord.
